During your time in Bali, especially celebrating
the most important time such as wedding, it would
be a great value to add some memories to strengthen
the ties for life marriage. Some places believed
by Balinese having magic to have an inspiration
that marriage be a permanent unity are some temples
such as Tirta Empul, Besakih, and Uluwatu temple.
Tirta Empul Temple
is located almost in the middle of Bali around
40 km from Denpasar city. The temple seems to
have been built in the year of 964 AD by one of
great king of Bali from Warmadewa Dynasty. Before
the temple there is a big water spring distributed
to 12 fountains to fill a long and small pool.
Every week dozens of Balinese come to the place
to implore good health and well being by soaking
themselves to the pool and bathe under the fountains.
As a Hindu they bring offering as the token of
faith and worship to the god. The visit to Tirta
Empul can be combined with visit to Gunung Kawi
commemorial tomb of Anak Wungsu, the king of Bali
where he monumentized his beloved wife and concubines
with beautiful stone cut constructions. To reach
the place one has to walk around 200 meters down
and up the steps from car park. Also Gowa Gajah
where is found the sculpture of Hariti, a fairy
fertile women with dozen of children. In the past
Balinese mother, if she has not yet given to bear
a child after long time married will come to implore
the blessing of Hariti.
Besakih Temple, the
biggest Hindu temple in Bali located on the foot
of mount Agung, the highest mountain peak. This
temple is the center of Hindu worship in Bali,
and not only Balinese but some Hindu from other
regions of Indonesia during the temple ritual
will come and praying at the temple. Historically
it is not clear when was exactly the temple was
built, although there are some manuscripts claiming
to know about Besakih temple, but the facts are
in contrary with the historical facts that so
far found. It was an indication that the temple
site was actually very old which is proved by
the existence of stone shrines, the character
of megalithic worship. The oldest human made stone
sculptures come from 14th century. It is much
probable that the site of the temple already started
very old, and continued to 14th century as the
beginning of the development of the temple into
some complexes which is now already 18 temple
complexes which around 251 shrines and pavilions.
Visiting Besakih temple can be combined with visiting
Kerta Gosha an ancient court house of justice
built in 18th century. This court house of justice
was built by the biggest kingdom of Bali that
was Klungkung kingdom, which name is until now
preserved as the name of the small town of Klungkung.
starting 17th century the center of Balinese kingdom
was here before breaking down into 10 small kingdoms.
The location of Kerta Gosha is in the center of
Klungkung city surrounded by pool. That is why
it is also known as floating palace. On the ceiling
of the pavilion is depicted about the sins of
a mother during her marriage life with sinical
pictures. A mother should have children, not one
but more. If it is only one then life after death
would be frightening. A mother that is not loyal
to her monogamy will there be a punishment and
others.
To appreciate talented carver of Bali then a visit
to an exclusive showroom of wood carving can be
organized, where various quality arts can be found.
The aesthetic expression of Balinese as an ethnic
properties is clearly depicted by the art works.
Also a natural beauty of Bali which might be the
best background for the special experience of wedding
in Bali can be chosen between rice terrace or massive
scenery such as beautiful mountain caldera such
as mount Batur or Bedugul. Batur caldera is one
of the two spectacular natural sceneries in Indonesia
beside lake Toba in North Sumatra.
